Book: « As It Is » by Lama Ole Nydahl

Preface by His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje

What is Buddhism? What methods did Buddha teach to overcome the harmful rigidity of concepts? How can today’s women and men use the joys and challenges of professional, family, and couple life for their spiritual development? As It Is is a living transmission of Buddha’s profound wisdom, written by one of the key figures in bringing Buddhism to the West.
Lama Ole Nydahl makes the millennia-old richness of Buddha’s teachings accessible to us and shows that their value is equally priceless for the modern world.

Lama Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah were the first Western students of the 16th Karmapa, one of the greatest Tibetan meditation masters of the 20th century. During their honeymoon in Nepal in 1969, they met the spiritual head of the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. After their adventurous years of study in the Himalayan regions, he asked them to bring Buddha’s teachings to the West.
Following this wish, since 1972 and throughout the world, Lama Ole Nydahl has founded more than 650 Diamond Way Buddhist Centers. His students, colleagues, and himself are dedicated to studying and transmitting the teachings there.
